Morning: Tiananmen Square → Forbidden City
08:00–09:00 Tiananmen SquareThe world’s largest urban square, symbolizing China’s capital. Stand at the Gate of Heavenly Peace to admire the national flag, the Monument to the People’s Heroes, and the Great Hall of the People. Don’t miss the photo op with the iconic Tiananmen Rostrum.
09:00–12:00 Forbidden City (Palace Museum)A UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world’s largest surviving wooden palace complex. Walk the central axis through the Meridian Gate, Hall of Supreme Harmony, Hall of Central Harmony and Hall of Preserving Harmony—the imperial ceremonial cores. Explore inner courtyards, imperial gardens and rare cultural relics to experience 600 years of Ming-Qing royal life.
Afternoon: Temple of Heaven → Lama Temple
14:00–16:00 Temple of HeavenAnother UNESCO site, where Ming and Qing emperors prayed for good harvests. Marvel at the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests (a circular wooden hall with no nails), the Imperial Vault of Heaven and the Echo Wall—ancient acoustic wonders reflecting “round sky, square earth” philosophy.
16:30–18:00 Lama Temple (Yonghegong)Beijing’s largest and most renowned Tibetan Buddhist temple. Built in 1694, it blends Han, Manchu, Mongolian and Tibetan architectural styles. Admire the 18m-tall sandalwood Buddha statue, exquisite thangka paintings and peaceful courtyards—feel the serenity of Tibetan Buddhism in downtown Beijing.
Day 2: Imperial Garden & Great Wall
Theme: Escape the city to explore the classical imperial garden and the “Long Wall” — China’s greatest ancient defense.
Morning: Summer Palace
08:30–12:00 Summer Palace
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, China’s largest and best-preserved imperial garden. Integrating Jiangnan-style landscapes with royal grandeur, it features:
Longevity Hill: Climb to the Tower of Buddhist Incense for panoramic views of Kunming Lake.
Kunming Lake: Stroll the Long Corridor (the world’s longest covered walkway) or take a boat ride.
Suzhou Street: A restored imperial water town with shops and teahouses.
Afternoon: Mutianyu Great Wall
13:30–17:30 Mutianyu Great Wall
The most beautiful and well-preserved section of the Great Wall, less crowded than Badaling. Built in the Ming Dynasty, it boasts:
Scenic Views: Nestled in green mountains, with lush forests and fresh air.
Well-Preserved Fortifications: 22 watchtowers in a row, with crenellations and arrow slits.
Activities: Hike the wall (moderate difficulty), take a cable car up or a toboggan down for fun.
