Baqi Cave Scenic Area -Frosty grass entwined in pale green, frosty pear blossoms half-red

Baqi Cave Scenic Area, a national AAAA-level scenic area, overlooks Dingdu Pavilion to the east, Jietai Temple to the south, Tianmen Mountain to the west, and Tanzhe Temple to the north. The first scenic spot of Tanzhe Temple, "Frosty grass entwined in pale green, frosty pear blossoms half-red," is situated above Baqi Cave. The ancient Baqi Cave is deep and secluded, stretching 1350 meters in length, with an entrance elevation of 298 meters and a maximum drop of 159 meters. It is famous both domestically and internationally for its eight wonders formed by underground river erosion, especially the unique and enormous "8" shaped fold, a textbook example of geological change. Combined with the other seven scenic spots, it forms a unique underground spectacle, hence the name "Eight Wonders." The cave maintains a constant temperature of 13-16°C year-round, offering a comfortable environment in both winter and summer, with varying humidity levels, making it suitable for year-round tourism. Baqi Cave was formed 300 million years ago by crustal movement that caused a crack in the mountain, which was then eroded by underground rivers over millions of years, eventually reaching its current size. The cave entrance is at an altitude of 240 meters, and the cave is over 500 meters deep. The largest cave hall is over 200 meters long, over 130 meters wide, and over 110 meters high, making it the largest in North China and rare both domestically and internationally. The narrowest point is less than 1 meter wide and no more than 2 meters high. The cave floor area exceeds 200,000 square meters, with a volume of nearly 10 million cubic meters. Major attractions include: the Underground Great Wall, Dripping Water Guanyin, Manifesting Dragon Pool, Pillar Reaching the Sky, Lotus Floating Bridge, Living Buddha Jigong, Subduing Tiger, Heavenly Pool, Heavenly Pot, Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea, Flying Dragon in the Sky, Cave Wall Cinema, Arhat Corridor, Prayer Wheel, Infinite Eight, and a Giant Folded Eight.
