Visitor Reservation Guidelines

To improve our service and ensure the safety of museum artifacts, the museum operates on a reservation-based entry system. Please read the following guidelines carefully to understand the reservation process and rules and other important information. We wish you an enjoyable visit!

1. Opening Hours

The museum is open daily from 9:00 to 17:00 (last admission at 16:00) and is closed on Mondays (except on China's national public holidays). During the peak season from June 1 to October 31, opening hours are extended to 17:30 (last admission at 16:30).

2. Reservation Rules

1) Visitors must use a valid ID to complete real-name authentication before making a free reservation. Minors aged 14 and under must have their reservations made by an accompanying adult and must enter with the person who made the reservation.

2) Each account can make a maximum of 1 reservation per week, for up to 5 persons per booking. A maximum of 10 frequently used contacts may be added, which cannot be changed within 30 days after addition. The same ID number can be used for a maximum of 4 reservations per month and only 1 reservation per day.

3) Any cancellation made after reservation will still count toward reservation limit. An ID number with 3 cumulative no-shows will be restricted from making reservations for 30 days. If a user deactivates his/her account, the account will not be logged into or re-registered for 30 days.

3. How to Make a Reservation

Visitors may make reservations up to 7 days in advance through the official website of the National Museum of China. Each day is divided into three admission time slots: 9:00–11:00, 11:00–13:30, and 13:30–16:00 (from June 1 to October 31, the third time slot is 13:30–16:30).

Tickets are released for reservation daily at 17:00, and the deadline for cancellations is 15:00 on the day of the visit. Once the reservation is successful, the system will automatically send a confirmation message. Please keep the message for verification.

4. Verification upon Entry

On the day of the visit, visitors must present their original IDs used for the reservation along with the confirmation message, and enter through the North Gate visitor entrance during their reserved time slot. Visitors without a reservation, whose ID information does not match, or who miss their reserved time slot will not be permitted to enter.
