Welcome to the Palace Museum - The Forbidden City
The Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City, is the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is the largest and most complete ancient architectural complex in China, located at the center of Beijing. It covers an area of over 720,000 square meters, with more than 9,000 rooms, all wooden structures, and all the wooden structures have no nails. It is rectangular in shape and is the world's largest palace complex, covering 74 hectares.
The Palace Museum is divided into two parts: the Outer Court and the Inner Court. The Outer Court was where the emperor exercised his supreme power over the nation, while the Inner Court was where he lived with his royal family.
The most striking buildings in the Palace Museum include the "three halls": the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Hall of Neutralization, and the Hall of Preservation. The Hall of Supreme Harmony is the largest and most important hall in the palace complex. It is where the emperor held grand ceremonies, such as the Spring Festival, the emperor's birthday, and enthronement.
The Palace Museum is not only a historical building, but also a treasure trove of cultural relics. It is listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO and is now one of the most popular tourist attractions worldwide.
